Coach Storm:“Faith has been an instrumental part of our Fitness Community since it’s establishment back on the Ranch in 2009. She has been a loyal member, friend, and welcoming face to everyone she meets in our community. Her warm heart and inspiring attitude has helped many of our members, kids and adults, overcome many adversities, inside and outside the gym. She pours her heart and soul into everything she does, from the daily class WODs where everyone is on the ground after a grueling workout, to the Freakin Kids Camp which she has been directing for the past 5 years. She is always striving to be better.
Thank you Faith for being an amazing member!”
Coach Logan:“Faith is the real OG of Freakin CrossFit. She is the first of 3 ladies that started the roomers of our CrossFit in Broward County. She embodies the core of the Freakin CrossFit community by always helping others through their fitness journey. Faith has continued CrossFit through all the ups and downs of life and kept her body in the best of shape. Faith has been our role model to let everyone know this is something you can do for the rest of your life to remain healthy. We also thank Faith for all the hard work she has done for Freakin Fitness behind the scenes giving maximum support to this company. If you want to know how to be the fittest Grandma, ask Faith.”
Coach Shane:“Faith is not only a founding member of Freakin CrossFit, but she is everything that Freakin represents and we could not be more proud of her. She is a part of the heart and soul of Freakin CrossFit.”
Tell us about yourself?
I’m pretty sure I have the distinctive honor of being the oldest member of our box. It’s a lot of fun having a community of young adults to work out with every day.
What made you start CrossFit?
I started Crossfitting at FreakinCrossfit before it even existed because my longtime friend Maryln thought it would be fun! Logan trained my friend and then neighbor, Kim, Maryln and I five mornings a week in the backyard of the Kaufman ranch for months until the Kaufman brothers became Crossfit affiliates. Back then, over ten years ago, we used to ask where the finish line was, when would we be done trying to get better, faster, and stronger. The answer as we all find out, is that there is no finish line… you just keep going!
What have you learned since joining Freakin CrossFit?
I’ve learned to respect and listen to my body. I’m not better, faster or stronger than I was ten years ago, but I’m strong and healthy and still having fun.
What is you proudest CrossFit moment?
My proudest moment was the day I did band-free pullups and chin-ups. During wods I generally use a band, but I still do a couple without bands every now and then just to make sure I still can.
What’s your favorite exercise movement?
My favorite movement is anything core related.
What are your CrossFit goals?
My goals have changed over the years. I’ve done the Open twice, joined in the fun for one of the Civil War Games competitions, done the monkey bars, climbed over the wall and up the rope, and lifted “enough”. Right now, it’s fun for me to get a good modified workout every day.
What does your nutrition look like? Has it changed since starting CrossFit?
My nutrition hasn’t changed much although I do drink a protein drink every morning. I’m much more aware of what I should be eating.
What’s the one tip you would give someone who is thinking about starting CrossFit or has just started?
I love this question! CrossFit naturally fosters friendship and competition which keeps us coming back for more. I would encourage someone new to the sport to take the time to learn the movements, ask lots of questions and learn not to look around too much. Compete mainly with yourself, use SugarWod for the fun of it but also for the look back at how far you’ve come.
When you’re not CrossFitting, what’s your favorite thing to do?
When I’m not Crossfitting, I’m “thinking” about traveling, taking care of sweet Grands, teaching little kiddies how to be safe around water, and from January until June, obsessing about our Summer Camp!
